Nostalgia and sentimentality often reign supreme on New Years Eve, as we look back and reflect on the year that was.   Just 364 days, but sometimes they feel like a lifetime.   Other times we wonder how time flies by so quickly.   In truth time is constant, our perception of it merely changes.   A perception coloured by the events and circumstances we encounted in that cyclic measure of time we know as a year.

Perhaps a year of simplicity in which the general pattern of our lives focussed on the everyday — renovating the family home, admiring your child’s kindergarten artwork turned into a nightlight in the hallway, checking your collar and tie in the mirror next to your softly glowing graduation photo and being glad you have a good job to go to each morning and a loving partner to come home to in the evening.

It may have been a year of complexity, of dramatic events unfolding on the world stage affecting millions of people.   Or a year of difficult personal challenges that are important only to you but nevertheless have a life–changing quality about them.   A year in which to rebuild, both physically and emotionally, from the darkness of the past to the light of the future.   A year in which we hang on the tokens of yesteryear to give us the strength and hope to arrive at tomorrow.   The shining family crest siginfying combined family strength.   Bright beacons of hope, in remembrance of the wise words of a loved one handed down to you before they passed away.   Lit desk photos and images of family and friends we hold dear, to keep us on track when work or the worries of the world are weighing us down.   The wonderful gift of quiet encouragement and support at times we felt blue.

With luck, it was a year of laughter and love.   Of memories we wish to keep safe in our hearts and minds and the hearts and minds of those to whom we leave our legacy.   A year where there was plenty to rejoice about, celebrations such as a first holy communion, special anniversaries, and weddings complete with wedding bonbonniere, mementos of being the flower girl or of catching the bouquet.   The special corner, the mantlepiece or family photo gallery will likely be crammed with relics of personal relevance.   Memories of a young lady’s debutant ball, the commemoration certificate awarded to you as proof of the thrill of achieving citizenship in your new homeland, visual cues that make you smile, like a gallery of giggles between friends — given to be kept, for the sake of the giver or simply as a sign of friendship.

And so the years go on.   With human nature looking to discover its origins whilst striving to attain its destined future.

Treasure your c D–Light™ keepsakes remembering where you have come from, no matter how humble or difficult the beginnings.   Enjoy the everyday journey with it’s simple pleasures, its small but significant changes and the ease with which c D–Light™ inscapes can be interchanged to adapt your lighting experience to the changes everyday life brings.   And look to the future with reliability and confidence knowing that the difficulties of yesteryear will pass, that the battles you’ve fought (whether you’ve won them or lost them) are no more than markers on the road to something better and that when all is said and done the battles are worth it.   The bright beacons of hope now no longer a promise of a better future but a reality achieved.   And the dream can be passed on, for the quality light you invested in so long ago will still be around for your enjoyment and your loved ones’ enjoyment for years to come.
