I’ve been everywhere, man…

It doesn’t matter where you live or what you do for a living, the love of freedom, the call of the wild and the pull of wide open roads claims us all at some stage of our lives.   That’s when it’s time to pack up, buy that RV you’ve always dreamed about, jump in the 4WD, hitch up the caravan or trailer and hit the road.   Like the Missus and me.   “Come on” she nagged, “Let’s hit the road, Jack".   And so we did…While we always planned to come back, we had the time of our life swapping lively tales around the crackling campfire and meeting real characters in different places all over the world.   There’ll always be one that says “Listen, mate, I’ve travelled ev’ry road in this here land.” and then it starts.   The travel tales free–for–all :

In Australia,

“Been to Tullamore, Seymour, Lismore, Mooloolaba, Nambour, Maroochydore, Kilmore, Murwillumbah, Birdsville, Emmaville, Wallaville, Cunnamulla, Condamine, Strathpine, Proserpine, Ulladulla, Darwin, Gin Gin, Deniliquin, Muckadilla, Wallambilla, Boggabilla, Kumbarilla, What a killer; …”

In America,

“Been to Boston, Charleston, Dayton, Louisiana, Washington, Houston, Kingston, Texarkana, Monterey, Ferriday, Santa Fe, Tallapoosa, Glen Rock, Black Rock, Little Rock, Oskaloosa, Tennessee, Hennessey, Chicopee, Spirit Lake, Grand Lake, Devil’s Lake, Crater Lake, for Pete’s sake; …”

In New Zealand,

“Been to Featherston, Palmerston, Woolston, Te Awamutu, Riverton, Queenstown, Picton, Ohinemutu, Morere, Korere, Rotorua, Kaikoura, Matamata, Ruakura, Ikamatua, Papakura, Waitaki, Pukaki, Taranaki, Te Kauwhata, Ropata, Ikowai, Waitemata, what’s the matter; …”

Even the Missus and I were’nt immune to this bug, joining in with a chorus of our own, “Cause I’ve been everywhere, man, I’ve been everywhere, man.   ‘Cross the deserts bare, man; I’ve breathed the mountain air, man.   Of travel I’ve had my share, man.   I’ve been everywhere.”

  • And wherever we went, our c D–Light™ went with us.   Of course, seeing that we’re Aussies we chose the Aussie Gold for our caravan light.   Always a great talking point with the tourists, even the locals had to admit it made sense to have a light in the caravan window when you stumble home from the pub after dark.   Sort of like those sensor lights the city folks use for their front doors.
  • Of course getting blind is not really my scene.   I’m much more likely to get out the surf rod and berley, a stubby, the fishing chair and maybe a copy of the Financial Review before I settle down for a few lazy hours with the most amazing vista in front of me.   And I don’t mean all the Sheilas stripping off to enjoy the sun and the surf in the great outdoors either.   So when the great catch is cleaned and gutted, and we have ourselves an awesome fish barbeque (there’s always enough room to throw a couple of shrimps on the barbie), I settle back to tell the tale of the really big one that got away.   And I’ve got the flamin’ picture all lit up in another c D–Light™ just to prove it.   Even when it’s too dark to see a regular snapshot, the guys can’t miss this one and I’m proud as punch to show it off!
  • Meanwhile my girl’s inside, stayin’ away from the mozzies.   With the white c D–Light™ she picked, there’s enough light to read all about the Aussie Bush Flower Essences and Tales from a Sunburnt Country, even though she picked a True Blue Aussie animal, coloured, MOM™ bush scene.   That’s because those LED’s they use in those c D–Light™s are so energy efficient.   Which is great when you’re not on a powered van site and don’t want to lug a half an oil tanker around behind you to power the generator for reading light.
  • But the best thing is that this internal caravan light is bright enough so she can read all night which keeps her happy, and dim enough to be like a caravan nightlight from my position flat out on the bed which keeps me happy (and asleep).
  • Experiencing Australia with its astonishing contrasts and amazing scenery has its pros and cons.   Like hot sultry evenings on the beach at Darwin.   Fantastic.   Or the lush green forested valleys, glacial lakes and mountains and sudden and unpredictable weather changes characteristic of the Franklin River area and Cradle Mountain.   Spectacular.   But wet.   Nights when the rain is thundering down, soaking everything in that refreshing, life–giving freshness are perfect for planning where we’re heading next.   Caravanning around the Land of Oz, destination bush.   Just which way?   Maybe six miles past the old black stump?   Thats when we snuggle up on the bench seat with our cuppa soup or a steaming pot of billy tea, warming each other with thoughts of up north and the red centre.   The Missus even had a brilliant caravan mood light done up with a BLM™ stencil of the outback shack I was born in, sunset orange like the sky the night I was born.   Makes you warm and fuzzy just thinking about it.
  • Naturally, you guys call caravans trailers over there in the US.   And your recreational vehicles don’t need a car to pull the motor home along, like our caravans do.   But home is home.   Even when you’re away from home.   So why not make it as pleasant and enjoyable as you can?   Get yourself a c D–Light™ too, with something that really turns you on.   Like the Missus and I did.   Then when the light goes on in your trailer, this unique LED trailer light’ll draw in nice people in search of a pow–wow and you’ll never be short of good company sitting around the trailer light by night and exchanging stories.

“Have you been to …”

“…Yeah, I’ve Been Everywhere, man.   Did I ever tell you about that really big fish I caught in Australia?   No?   Well let me show you the photo in this c D–Light™ here, see that fish hanging up in the tree, it was so big…”
